The Best Chocolate Milk EVER

Chocolate Milk is a staple in our house. If I need to make room in the milk fridge or free up a couple half gallon jars, all I have to do is make this and say, "does anybody want a glass of chocolate milk?" Within 5 minutes it's mission accomplished. The fact that the kids love it so much is 100% my fault, without a doubt. When I was pregnant with all four boys I drank a ridiculous amount of milk. And 90% of the time, it was chocolate milk. So it's no surprise they are all border-line chocolate milk addicts.
We used to be very brand loyal to Nesquik and it was on my Amazon subscribe and save list. And we didn't buy the little 20 oz containers, we bought the giant two and a half pound containers that barely fit in the cabinet.
A few months ago a herd share member shared this recipe with me, and I have not bought a container of Nesquik since. With only a few pantry staples to have on-hand and a mason jar, it is so easy to make, and I know that there aren't any hidden ingredients lurking in there. Another thing that's great about making this yourself, is you can adjust the amount of sugar in the mix. The recipe below is exactly the amounts I use and how I make it.
Inside tip: The order of the recipe is the secret to not having any little bits of undissolved cocoa power at the bottom. I'm usually not a recipe-direction- follower... I dump ingredients in and start mixing, then read the directions, but not here. So, trust me when I say, don't go rogue and just mix everything together.
If you end up trying this, let me know what you think!!
1/2 cup hot (almost boiling) water
I use a pint mason jar and heat it up for 90 seconds in the microwave.
1/4 cup unsweetened baking cocoa powder
Mix the cocoa powder in the hot water and stir, stir, stir until it is completely dissolved. Then stir a little more just to be sure.
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/4 tsp of salt
Mix well to dissolve everything
Pour into a half gallon container (we use 1/2 gallon mason jar) and fill the rest of the way up.
Shake well to mix up and shake every time before serving.
